SALASARA village project

We appreciate your interest in SALASARA’s Village Project. The following information explains what we are doing and how you might become involved.

I am retired professional from Australia and over the past six month in Cambodia I have been exposed to the plight of a people that have experienced so much tragedy in recent years and are literally re-building their country from scratch. The land mine victims are the obvious casualties; the less obvious are those in the village in the rural areas.

I have seen first-hand the struggles and I have also been inspires by those that have built successful businesses, have a genuine heart for their people and are now reaching out help those in the villages and rural areas where they grew up. SALASARA and its owner Sothearith exemplify this “heart for his people’’. sothearith vision is to empower the people in his village to attain a better standard of living, while strengthening their growth for ongoing development . He knows that education is key to developing economic stability and personal well-being.

Sothearith’s current project is to improve the school in his village. It has 700 students, 5 teachers and only 4 proper classrooms. Half the students attend from 7am to the rest from 1pm access to education is essential for the young people of Kon Sand Village. A school that can accommodate these young people is critical.

Any financial contribution you can make will help. Together we can jointly help these people re-build their lives and educate themselves into a future with opportunities.

If you would like to be involved, please reply by email and I will forward the details of the SALASARA village Project bank account. Thanks.

Best Wishes

Other Information

I have been inspired by those that have built successful businesses and are now reaching out to help those in the villages and rural areas where they grew up. One of these men is Sothearith Voeun who lives in Siem Reap (the Angkor Wat temple area) in north Cambodia. I have committed myself to help this dedicated. Motivated man as he strives to make life better for his people. He is the one on ground where the need it most desperate and little by little he is making a difference.

Sotearith grew up in the village of Kon Sand which is about 60km east of Siem Reap. He completed his primary school education in the village and then worked full time but continued his studies. He set himself goals, he had a vision. He put together a business plan; he borrowed money and bought a small hotel. The hard work put in by central Siem Reap .it is called SALASARA Boutique Hotel. Sothearith is now reaching out to his village. He employs young people from the village and encourages them in their ongoing educational studies.

His business plan for the short and long term includes his village. He understands that educational qualifications must lead to employment opportunities. His business structure is still in the developing stage but Sothearith sees his village as an integral part of its future. It will include opportunities for educated young people to work in his Hotel & Hospitality business, his Information Technology and Graphic Design business and in a future selling business. His vision also includes village based “cottage” industries that his business can support.
